When you create an account we collect your email address and a securely encrypted password. We do not have access to your password — it is managed securely by Firebase Authentication, a service provided by Google.

ShopSmartly optionally collects your device's location to support the store arrival notification feature. When you add a location to a store, the app uses your device's GPS coordinates to detect when you are near that store and sends you a notification if you have an active shopping list ready. Location access is requested as Always On to allow this detection to work in the background. You can disable location access at any time in your iPhone Settings. Location data is used solely for store proximity detection and is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties.
ShopSmartly remembers your shopping preferences and behaviours within the app, such as frequently purchased items and preferred item ordering. This information is stored in your account and is used solely to personalise your experience within the app.

Your data is only accessible to users who sign in with your account credentials. We do not share your data with any third parties except as necessary to provide the service, specifically Google Firebase which hosts our database and authentication service. We take the security of your data seriously. All data is transmitted over secure encrypted connections and stored securely in Google Firebase. Passwords are never stored in plain text and are managed entirely by Firebase Authentication.
